Steve and Dave, like everyone, live in between the biblical text and the practice of the church. This is normal. However, they stretch out their arms as they simultaneously grasp both the Bible and the Church in our changing world and pull them together in a manner that challenges practitioners who have nothing to say, equips thinkers trying to give expression to their thoughts, and encourages all of us who pray, "Thy Kingdom come..." This is remarkable, and I consider Steve and Dave remarkable friends whose lives and teaching challenge, equip, and encourage me.

Intersect's March 2006 Update

Read here and/or download the full-color version!

Hello Friends of Intersect!

Spring is always a time of anticipation, and Intersect is eagerly anticipating many things this time of the year!  There is a lot on the horizon that we’re excited about.

EMERGE Cohort:  First Team completes the Course in the Spring.  Next Team Starts in the Fall.

In January our Grand Rapids cohort of ministry leaders met for our third of four gatherings.  We spent three days together wrestling with biblical pictures of the church and thinking through how these pictures and definitions affect the way we lead and express our missional calling as a community.

Our final gathering for this cohort will be in April.  All cohort members have been faithfully committed to this year-long process and we’ve had no one withdraw from our gatherings.  We’ve enjoyed the deepening friendships and the whole group has been instrumental as we continue developing the EMERGE cohort.  We are eager to assist the experience and expertise of this group to help us fine-tune this cohort training as we will launch another cohort in Grand Rapids in the Fall of 2006.

If you know anyone who might be interested in joining this cohort, please encourage them to contact us, or let us know how we can touch base with them.

EXTEND Student Gathering:  June 22-25, 2006

We continue to prepare for EXTEND being held this summer here in Grand Rapids.  We’ve heard great enthusiasm for the event from youth leaders as well as local ministry leaders we’re seeking to partner with and serve through the Tangible Expression aspect of the weekend where students will be serving with local ministries and organizations.

Please pray for EXTEND, that we would provide leaders and students a valuable experience that encourages thinking towards a deeper faith, life, and walk with God.  Also, pray that the various aspects of EXTEND would come together to make EXTEND a success for us and for those attending with us.

INTERSECT Website

For the past few months we’ve be revamping our website with the help of 5Q Communications.  Our new site is officially up and promises to be a great resource hub for our work, research, and activities.  We’ve moved Steve’s blog into the website and he and Dave will both be authoring ongoing topics of interest that we hope will spur on good dialogue.  You will also find over 50 articles written by Dave and Steve over the last few years that are searchable by topic.

Stop in, stop often!
