In recent months I've been swamped with teaching engagements both here at our church and around the Boston area.  The teaching has ranged from quiet times to sexual purity to leadership development.

The other day I reflected back on all my prep and realized that a huge percentage of my resources were connected in some way to materials suggested or given in my Intersect Emerge Cohort.

I was immediately grateful for these resources and even more so for the great mentors who provided them!! You guys are awesome!

EXTEND Youth Ministry Weekends

Weekend Training for Students through Your Next Youth Group Retreat

What is EXTEND?

EXTEND is a weekend gathering designed for students and leaders to extend their theological understanding, personal growth and missional living in response to God’s call to follow.  Our desire is that, through the EXTEND experience, students will discover their connection with God’s redemptive Story, learn and articulate the Gospel in all its fullness, understand the mission of the Church, and explore ways to express these values through their own lives and with their faith community.

Key components of the EXTEND weekend include training from Intersect’s staff, small group interaction, personal reflection, and relevant take-aways that students can continue practice at home. These components are all included as part of the full EXTEND experience, which we will help assemble with your input to meet your community’s particular needs and character.

To serve your goals, we are prepared to provide all the training and speaking aspects of an EXTEND and will work with the youth leader to cater a weekend experience that fits the leadership’s needs and goals.

What is taught at EXTEND?

We offer four different tracks for students that build upon each other. Our hope is to develop a scope and sequence that can serve a youth ministry over four years, providing material that encourages ongoing spiritual formation.

The four tracks are...

01 Follow...

...explores the Story of God which he has revealed to us and our part in it, how to communicate this Story, our understanding of the ‘Good News,’ and how to see our world more clearly as we wrestle with the challenges of the call to follow Christ in the 21st century.  This track sets the groundwork for the other three which are offered.

02 Shape...

...gives direction for our own personal formation and provides tools to help students grow in their following of Jesus through loving God and loving others.

03 We ...
....highlights our need to follow Jesus, in community.  This track explores biblical metaphors of the church and the relevance of the church for our world.

04 Call...
...provides a journey of discovery for students as they begin to wrestle with God’s calling on their lives, and as they think about their future beyond the teenage years.
